Meet Dr. Rabe, Dallas Periodontist
Laura N. Rabe, DDS, MSD
Dr. Laura N. Rabe attended The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHSC) where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree and a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD). Dr. Rabe went on to specialize in Periodontics at UTHSC and received her Certificate for a specialty in Periodontal and Dental Implant Surgery. She completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Human Development and Family Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Rabe is proficient in dental surgical regeneration, bone grafting, dental implant placement, immediate implant placement, implant provisionalization, soft tissue grafting, PRF and the treatment of periodontal/gum diseases.
Dr. Rabe is also certified in sedation dentistry and provides oral and IV sedation to help patients feel relaxed during their appointments. Over the last 9 years, she has attended continuing education courses to advance her skills in dental implantology, minimally invasive surgical techniques, soft tissue tunneling, and phlebotomy for platelet rich fibrin.
Awards & Recognitions
Dr. Rabe has received many awards including the UT Houston Professionalism and Ethics Award, the Pat Allen “Minimally Invasive Soft Tissue Grafting” Scholarship, and the Caffesse Periodontics Residency Scholarship. She was selected for the Dean’s Student Excellence in Periodontics, the Women of Rotary Scholarship, and the Periodontal Honors Surgical Clerkship and Lawrence H. Meskin Journalism Award while studying at UTHSC.
Research and Professional Affiliations
Dr. Rabe has presented her research both nationally and internationally. In 2019 at the Academy of Osseointegration, she was awarded first place in Best Oral Scientific Research for her investigation in dental implantology. She was selected to present at the SWSP John F. Prichard Prize for Graduate Research Competition. She has also presented and lectured on vertical bone ridge augmentation, osteotomy preparation, dental implant surgery, and connective tissue grafting.
Dr. Rabe is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Texas Dental Association, (TDA), the Dallas County Dental Society (DCDS), the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), the Southwest Society of Periodontists (SWSP) and the Academy of Osseointegration (AO).
Dr. Rabe was born in Dallas, TX and is excited to be practicing periodontics in her home town. She currently lives in the Dallas area with her husband, Kevin, and their golden retriever, Stella. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, running at White Rock Lake, and traveling. She and her husband return to Austin as much as possible in the fall for UT football games.
Her future goals include publishing dental research and practicing part-time as a faculty at the Texas A&M (Baylor) School of Dentistry in Dallas.
Dr. Rabe’s passions include caring for patients with outstanding quality of care, compassion, and technical excellence. She strives to deliver esthetic and functional dentistry in a comfortable and safe environment.
